The 2022 Trax Shows That Small Doesn’t Have to Mean Boring

The exterior design of the 2022 Trax is full of visual interest, starting with a peppy-looking grill and headlights that lead back to a sculpted body and prominent taillights that outline

a flush-set hatchback rear door that balances everything out. The interior technology includes a 12-volt power outlet with a 120-volt outlet available on the LT trim level, a Chevrolet Infotainment System 3 System with a 7-inch color touch screen, a 3/5-inch driver information system, 8-point digital compass, and USB ports for powering your accessories. The infotainment system also displays the feed from the backup camera when the Trax is put into reverse and can connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2022 Trax accommodates four adults but can hold a fifth if they’re willing to squeeze. A total of 10airbags provide impact cushioning for the driver and front and rear passengers. Other safety features include rear child security door locks, 3-point seat belts for all seating positions, and OnStar connected services capability. More safety features are available as add-ons. The 2022 Trax is constructed with a high-strength steel safety cage that adds structural stability to the SUV and protects occupants in the event of a crash or rollover. The rear cargo area generates 18.7 cubic feet of space when the rear seats are up and expands to 48.4 cubic feet when both seats are down. It can carry a maximum of 944 lbs overall. Packages and trim levels include:

The Powertrain of the 2022 Trax Offers a Nimble Driving Experience

The 2022 Chevrolet Trax is available in FWD and AWD, and sits high enough to provide excellent visibility for the driver. All trim levels and packages are propelled by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder electronic fuel injected turbocharged engine that generates 155 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel economy for the FWD version gets 24 mpg city/32 mpg highway, with the AWD version getting slightly less with 23 mpg city/30 mpg highway. StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control is standard on all trim levels and packages. The 2022 Trax features four-wheel antilock front disc/rear drum brakes on the LS and LT FWD trims and 4-wheel antilock disk brakes on the AWD versions. Buyers get to select from their choice of 16-inch all-season blackwall tires with painted aluminum rims or 18-inch all-season blackwall tires. Other tire and rim combinations are available in different trim packages.
