The Engine

A 2.5-liter turbocharged four producing 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic.

The old V6 made less power than this. The turbo four is more efficient and delivers its torque lower in the rev range, which is what you feel merging onto I-59 with seven people aboard.

Three hundred twenty-eight horsepower is more than most three-row competitors offer, including several that still use a V6.

Towing up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped — a camper, a small boat, or a utility trailer.

All-wheel drive is available across most trims and standard on the Z71 — worth having for Alabama weather, which rarely gives much warning.

The Trims

LT — solid value with the core features, and the same engine as everything else.

RS — sportier, with darkened accents and unique wheels. The volume trim for a reason.

Z71 — the one people don’t expect from a three-row crossover. Standard all-wheel drive, skid plates, a lifted suspension, and trail-ready tires. If your family SUV needs to handle a gravel road, a hunting lease, or a boat ramp, this is the trim.

High Country — upscale materials and the fullest feature list, comfortably in luxury-SUV territory.

Most three-row crossovers offer an appearance package and call it rugged. The Z71 has hardware behind it, which makes it genuinely unusual in this segment.

Interior and Technology

A 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with an 11-inch digital driver display — among the largest screen setups in any SUV at this price, and the standout part of the redesign.

Google is built in, so Maps runs natively rather than mirrored from your phone. No pairing required, live traffic included, and apps download directly to the vehicle. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are there if you’d rather use your phone.

Seating for seven or eight depending on whether the second row has captain’s chairs or a bench. That flexibility matters more than it sounds — captain’s chairs make third-row access considerably easier for kids, while the bench adds a seat.

Up to 97.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. There’s also usable room behind the third row with all seats occupied, which is the measurement that actually matters on a family trip.
